Bringing Rowing to the Regions

Our Outback Bush Boats are at the heart of making rowing accessible in regional Queensland. These boats are stored and transported to different communities as needed, helping to establish local rowing programs from the ground up.
It starts with a weekend of rowing — like our Learn to Row in St George — and if there’s enough community interest, we leave a boat and gear on-site for 12 weeks, supported by local councils or businesses. The dream? That new rowers from these towns will go on to race in the Head of the Outback Regatta in Longreach and Barcaldine.
Every boat in the Bush Boats program has been donated or purchased on a shoestring, then refurbished and maintained by our amazing ORA volunteers — big shoutout to the Vikings Rowing Club, where many of our volunteers come from!
If you'd like to get involved — as a coach, mentor, boat tinkerer, or financial supporter — please reach out via email to hello@outbackrowing.com. There’s a place for everyone in the Outback Rowing family.
