Brisbane - Chinchilla - St George - Barcaldine and Longreach
For those driving to the Outback Regatta in Barcaldine and Longreach, join the Outback Convoy — a unique road trip experience taking the boats from Brisbane heading west to St George then onto the Australian Outback Rowing Regatta. Along the way, we’ll stop to row at iconic inland waterways and enjoy regional hospitality.
Wednesday – Brisbane to Chinchilla Depart West End at 10am or meet the trailer in Toowoomba for lunch at the Royal Hotel at 12.00pm. Then onto Chinchilla. Dinner will be organised by the Chinchilla Bush Boat crew at a local pub (TBA). Don't forget to book your accommodation in Chinchilla.
Thursday – Chinchilla training paddle & St George hook up Start the day with a morning training row on the Condamine River (Chinchilla Weir) at 8am. Load the Chinchilla boat onto the trailer and hit the road for St Gerorge at around 10am with lunch in Surat. At 2pm, meet up with the Sydney Convoy and Cunnamulla Crew trailers for a row on the Balonne River, launching near the Andrew Nixon Bridge. Crews will be made up of mixed line-ups depending on numbers. We'll regroup that evening for a CombinedConvoy Dinner with the St Geroge Bush Boat Crew at The Australian.
Book your own accommodation in St George.
Friday – On the road to Barcaldine The convoy hits the road early (7am) and heads to Tambo for lunch, home of the famous Tambo Teddies. Then on the "road again" to Bacaldine arriving at about 4pm. We will unload and join boats ready for the regatta tomorrow and then head for our accommodation in Barcaldine or Longreach.
Monday - Return Journey to Brisbane or Sydney The convoy will hit the road for Brisbane early Monday morning. It is around 12 hours to Toowoomba where we will have dinner at the Royal Hotel at 6.30pm.
